Well Education’s Commitment to Child Safety

At Well Education, every child and young person has the right to be safe, feel safe, be heard and be treated with dignity and respect. We are committed to the safety, wellbeing, participation and empowerment of all children and young people involved in our programs, services and activities.

We have zero tolerance for child abuse, neglect, grooming, exploitation, bullying, discrimination or any form of harm to children and young people.

To keep children and young people safe, Well Education commits to:

  • Implementing and continuously improving our child safe systems in accordance with the NSW Child Safe Standards.
  • Providing safe, inclusive, supportive and culturally safe environments where all children and young people are respected, valued and protected.
  • Taking all reasonable steps to prevent child abuse, harm and misconduct and to identify and manage risks to children and young people.
  • Empowering children and young people to participate in decisions that affect them, express their views and raise concerns safely.
  • Ensuring children and young people know who they can talk to if they feel unsafe, uncomfortable or have concerns about their wellbeing.
  • Respecting and promoting the rights, voices and participation of children and young people.

As a child safe organisation, Well Education commits to:

  • Embedding child safety into our leadership, governance, culture and everyday practices.
  • Recruiting, screening, supervising and supporting staff and volunteers to uphold child safe practices.
  • Providing child safety training and education to staff, volunteers and contractors so they understand their responsibilities to prevent, identify and respond to child safety concerns.
  • Responding promptly, appropriately and transparently to complaints, allegations, disclosures and breaches of our Child Safe Code of Conduct.
  • Supporting children, young people and families throughout any child safety concern or complaint process.
  • Welcoming feedback from children, families, staff, volunteers and community members to continuously improve our child safe policies, procedures and practices.
  • Working in partnership with families, schools, community organisations and stakeholders to create environments where child safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Information for Children and Young People

We want every child and young person participating in our programs to feel safe, respected and heard. If something makes you feel unsafe, uncomfortable or worried, you can talk to a trusted Well Education facilitator, your parent or carer, your teacher, or contact us directly. We will listen and do our best to help.
